Inna Ayrapetyan | Immigration Solicitor

Career in Law

Few people go through life without suffering some kind of injustice. This is something I learned early in life which inspired me to want to become a lawyer. It’s a calling that’s rooted in my deep-seated belief in justice and a relentless desire to make a difference. But it wasn’t until I stepped into education that this passion took place and found its purpose.

At Solent University, I embarked on my journey to becoming a lawyer. It was here that I was introduced to the intricate web of laws that govern our society. The eccentric professors and stimulating discussions in lectures opened my eyes to the profound impact that the legal profession has on people’s lives. I loved every minute of it. The lectures, coursework, the friends I made along the way.

Fast-forward four years, and my hard work paid off. I have a First Class Honours in my LLB, I’ve completed my LPC and LLM at Guildford Law University and I’ve landed my training contract at Leonard Solicitors LLP.

The moment I walked through the doors of this long-established la≥w firm, I knew I was taking the first steps towards a fulfilling career as a solicitor. I quickly became a valued member in the immigration team, where it was immigration law that I found my true calling.

As I delved into the diverse array of legal matters that crossed my desk during my training, I was drawn to immigration cases. The impact it had on people’s lives struck a chord within me. It was the desire to make a tangible difference that drove me to pursue the accreditation with the Law Society in Immigration and Asylum.

The process was intense, demanding a deep understanding of the intricate immigration laws and guidelines. But with unwavering determination and support from my supervisor, I successfully achieved the accreditation. With this in hand, I was now equipped to provide advice and assistance to those seeking asylum in the UK, individuals who often found themselves in the most vulnerable situations.

I remember the day I received my first positive decision from the Home Office. It was a triumph, not just for me, but for the deserving individual whose life was forever changed. That moment solidified my passion my for immigration law. Knowing that I could be a beacon of hope and a catalyst for change in people’s lives was a great realisation.

During my training contract at Leonard Solicitors, I had the privilege of experiencing diverse legal disciplines. I took seats in Family Law, Criminal Law, and Property, each offering valuable insights and experiences. However, my heart remained firmly in immigration.

Now after nearly three years of rigorous training and dedication, I am proud to say that I have qualified as a solicitor. My journey from a trainee to a fully qualified solicitor has been filled with challenges and rewarding moments alike. I look forward to continuing my career as an immigration lawyer, knowing that every case I handle has the potential to change lives, just as it changed mine.
